Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM)

Our Professional Chemist can handle all your NORM requests.  Naturally occurring radioactivity may be increased by industrial activities and work processes.  NORM emits alpha, beta and gamma ionizing radiation.  The main radionuclides of concern in the oil and gas industry are Radium 226 and 228 and Radon 222 and their respective decay series.  We can provide in depth site surveys and analysis of affected workplaces and equipment to ensure worker safety.

Site Radiation Surveys:gas plant 2

Utilizing the appropriate equipment, our chemist can survey an entire site to ensure the safety of all workers.  Common hotspots and "troublezones" can be surveyed and examined to verify the presence or absence of NORM activity.  All surveys come with a comprehensive report that details the radiation activity and any precautions that should be taken to protect workers.

Vessel Surveys:vessel

Aboveground storage tanks and other worksite vessels can be examined to ensure worker safety prior to performing maintenance, selling tanks or sending them off to the scrap yard.  All surveys come with a comprehensive report that details the radiation activity and any precautions that should be taken to protect workers.

NORM sampling and analysis:

Our chemist can perform various on site sampling and analysis to verify the estimated radiation levels in fluid or sludge products.  This information can prove valuable when considering appropriate fluid management or disposal options.
