FARM SAFETY

With the passing of Bill 6 in Alberta the safety regulations came into force on January 1, 2016.

Until detailed technical rules are developed over the next 18-24 months, farm and ranch operations with non-family, paid workers will need to follow and apply general health and safety principles on the farm.

This will include things such as:

         Hazard Assessments

Proper employee training on using equipment, tools and machinery

         Providing proper safeguards

Using Personal Protective Equipment as necessary

Workers will be able to refuse unsafe work that presents imminent danger

OHS officers will have authority to investigate serious incidents of paid, non-family workers.

With our experience in both safety and working on the family farm, we can help you develop a safety program that will fulfill your legal obligations and further enhance the safety of your farm/ranch.
